Free Classified Ads: How They Work
A classified ad is a short post that describes something you want to sell, rent, offer or announce to people nearby. On Malibu Miley, standard classified ads can be published across the United States without a posting fee. This page explains how that works and how to get started.
What a free classified ad is
Free classifieds means there is no fee to publish a standard post. It does not mean the items, rentals, services or tickets in a post are free. Each post owner sets their own price and terms.
Browsing classified ads
Open Browse listings to see current posts. You can search by keyword and narrow results by a U.S. city, state or ZIP code, or by category. What you find depends on what members in your area have posted, so results vary by location.
Category types
Posts are grouped into sections such as For Sale, Housing, Jobs, Services, Events and Community, each with more specific categories. Choosing the closest category helps people looking for that kind of post find yours.
Posting your own ad
Start on Post an Ad and pick a category first. Publishing needs an account with a verified email, you must be 18 or older, and a U.S. mobile phone number is verified before posts after your first one. Our step-by-step posting guide covers each field.
What is free and what is not
Standard classified posts such as items for sale, services, jobs, housing, events and community polls can be posted without a posting fee.
There are exceptions. Movie posts are a paid ad type, and ticket purchases for events or movies are separate transactions that may carry their own prices and charges. Free classifieds also does not mean the items, services or tickets in a post are free; sellers and organizers set their own prices.
Staying safe with local classifieds
Meet in a public, well-lit place when you can, bring someone along for larger items, and inspect items before paying. Be cautious with requests to pay by gift card, wire transfer or overpayment, and never share verification codes.
